Mimesis
A solo show by TULIS
Chateau de Jolimont, August 2022, Brussels
The solo exhibition Mimesis by Tulis invited us to enter the artist's deepest intimacies. Revealing what’s underneath the layers of protection, re-examining the paradox of boundaries: what’s private and what’s public, inside, and outside, self and not self. Her universe mingles dreams, memories, despair, and hope. Intertwined with her inspirations from Classical Antiquity, Medieval and Renaissance periods, are close observations and a profound reverence for nature. Mimesis included a wide range of artworks by the multidisciplinary artist: paintings - amongst which anamorphic female landscapes lounge - will be accompanied by sculptural works, small sensual drawings, bathers, saints, self-portrait gum prints, and poetry. Set in a magical green setting in Watermael-Boitsfort in Brussels: the Chateau de Jolimont, the show is a celebration of the cyclical and voluptuous elements of nature, intended to bring people together, slowing down in order to understand oneself, others, and the Earth we dwell on. Mimesis lets us be enchanted once again.

Pluies, a performance by Pauline Miko, 22 août 2021
A sonic and performative project by artist Pauline Mikó, aiming to strengthen the relationship between plants, nature, and human beings. During this sensorial experience, Miko will collaborate with plants and invite them to sing. Through a system of sensors and electrodes connected to the roots of the plants and the body of the artist, the bio-electric exchange setup is transformed into sounds. The sound waves are then modulated to produce music, both for the spectators' ears and for the plants themselves. The artist tries to give back a legitimate place to plants in our urban lives. By enhancing our connection to our environment, the idea is to understand its fragility, the importance of respecting it and putting organic life back in the center of our communities.
